"Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses." (St. Paul VI)
When I ask people how they became interested (or disinterested) in physics, math, or science, the answer usually begins the same way: "I had a teacher ...". Teaching is a passion of mine because I realize the power it has to pique or quench excitement in others. I also recognize its importance for human civilization: we can accomplish more collectively than individually, and training others through teaching is an investment that reaps greater rewards than our isolated accomplishments.
